Mr. Stephen Edwards is a Civil Engineer and former Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at the University of Technology (UTECH), in Kingston Jamaica. He attended St. George’s College, which is the institution he credits for his passion for education and service to others.
During his final year of high School at St. George’s College, Mr. Edwards was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend Boston College in Massachusetts, USA. While working towards his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics at Boston College, Mr.Edwards was elected President of the Caribbean Culture Club (CCC), and also founded the Jamaican Association (JA) – an organization that focused specifically on the needs and issues of Jamaicans.Contact Stephen
Mr. Edwards also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Florida International University (FIU), where he was inducted into the ‘Tau Beta Pi – Engineering Honour Society’, the ‘Chi Epsilon – Civil Engineering Honour Society’, and the ‘Golden Key Honour Society’. He then went on to earn a Master of Science Degree in Construction Management from FIU.
Before becoming a University lecturer, Mr. Edwards also served Jamaica as a science teacher at the Holy Trinity High School; and through involvement in various charity organizations,while teaching at Holy Trinity High Mr.Edwards established “The Write Path Jamaica” charity, which sources school supplies for students from low income families. One of Mr. Edwards core beliefs is that education is the best vehicle to create equal opportunity for all persons.
Mr. Edwards has worked as a Civil Engineer in both the Private Sector and Public Sector, the most recent tenure being at the Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ).
